How Cathy & Martin’s West Cork Wedding at Fernhill House was “Absolute Magic”
Recently, Cathy & Martin said their wows at the stunning Fernhill House Hotel where this Cork wedding photographer had the privilege of capturing some truly magical moments, as the couple said “I do” in the stunning hotel in Clonakilty.
As a wedding photographer in Cork, I’ve worked with many couples in Fernhill House Hotel, as it offers a truly heart-warming setting that overlooks the gardens. I’ve always loved coming here time and time again as a Fernhill House Hotel wedding photographer. Not to mention the staff, who are always a pleasure to interact with. This wedding was slightly different not only because it was the 2020 madness of covid, but it was also during Storm Ellen, a hurricane force red weather day! But these two legends had no problem in rallying and I can honestly say everyone had an absolute ball.
Getting married in Fernhill House Hotel
In my opinion, Fernhill House Hotel and Gardens is a very, very special wedding venue. It’s been among my all-time favourites as a West Cork wedding photographer and I have photographed many weddings here.
Fernhill House Hotel is managed by the O’Neil family’s 4th generation and widely recognised as one of the most popular West Cork wedding venues. In the last decade, the family has expanding their wedding venue businesses by conceiving a series of beyond beautiful gardens, all featuring a very unique and exquisite civil wedding ceremony area. There’s also a massive semi-permanent marquee that sits here for all those who are into spiritualist weddings.However, unfortunately due to the Covid pandemic and of course Storm Ellen the marquee and the gardens were not usable. Such a shame, but Cathy & Martin didn’t bat an eye, they still had the best day ever with their nearest and dearest.
As you grace the venue, you’re greeted by not only the picturesque gardens but also downright stunning views of the West Cork countryside. This lovely backdrop along with a fairytale-like country house await couples at Fernhill.
The ambience boasts old-world charm, complete with a fantastic service, where an expert team of service staff, chefs and event organisers will put you at ease – preparing and presenting a most unique setting for your big day.
How the day unfolded with me as the Fernhill House Hotel Wedding Photographer
One of the locations the newlyweds wanted to get their photos taken was the beach near their family home in Crookhaven for some intimate quiet moments on their favourite place they had managed to spend time in during the covid lockdown of 2020 for Emma Jervis as their Cork wedding photographer.
