As a photographer, I’m a strong advocate for doing a wedding your way. Your most special day should feel true to your story, relaxed, natural and absolutely stress-free – just like Lisa and Brian’s Fernhill House Hotel wedding! Even though the weather wasn’t perfect for their day, they simply went with the flow and pulled off the most beautiful personalised ceremony.

That being said, I have a few tips that will help you plan a relaxed personalised wedding!

What should you include in the ceremony?

Firstly, your ceremony needs to be performed by a registered solemniser. You will have the freedom to tailor the script to your own preferences and personalise the whole experience. What can you include? It is fairly simple – unique personalised vows and readings, music, even poems! In addition, you can enrich the ceremonial act with a Hand-fasting ritual, Sand mixing, Unity Candle lighting or any other ritual.

Finding the right celebrant

Secondly, you will have to choose the perfect celebrant. This should be a person that can completely match your vibe and bring your vision to life. This will be the person that will help you craft your non-traditional wedding flawlessly. Furthermore, the celebrant should be able to perform a legally binding ceremony in Ireland at a venue where that is possible, just like Fernhill House Hotel.

One venue for the ceremony and reception

Finally, if you are wondering how to be personal and relaxed on your wedding day, you should host the entire event at one location. This will alleviate stress and provide you with multiple solutions if the weather doesn’t go as planned. Lisa and Brian had a marquee wedding ceremony at the Fernhill House Hotel. Despite the weather, they tied the knot in a beautiful ambience, protecting their guests from any rain. So, take a leaf out of their book – go with the flow and trust your suppliers! They will make sure you have the most amazing day in your life!

Hope you found these tips helpful! Enjoy some sneak peeks from this couple’s special day at the Fernhill House Hotel, I had the best time capturing their unique story! To find more personal ceremony inspiration, read my other blogs or contact me for photography services.
