One of the most important parts of your wedding is your ceremony. Thus, it should be as beautiful and special as your love for one another! So how can you make your West Cork wedding extra fabulous and memorable? Having your Liss Ard humanist wedding ceremony under the magical Yew tree is one way of doing this! You can also take a leaf out of Emma and Shane’s story and have the best laid-back celebration and get rid of the old traditions that don’t apply to you!

I always have the honour of capturing couples who stay true to their wishes, who follow their own aesthetic preferences and make their own traditions. This amazing couple simply forego tradition and tailored their West Cork wedding ceremony in their own way. It was hosted on the grounds of the magnificent Liss Ard Estate, down by the lake under a Yew tree. This scenery provided them with the perfect backdrop for saying I DO.

In contrast to other couples, Emma and Shane decided not to have a bridal party, no flower girls and even walked down the aisle together with lovely guitar music! How beautiful and meaningful is that? They decided to walk side by side towards their future and bind their marriage with a humanist ceremony. It was heartwarming to witness how Shane’s son Eoin, Emma’s mum and everyone present surrendered to their emotions, happy that these two were tying the knot.

But their non-traditional West Cork wedding doesn’t stop there. After the ceremony, they had a cocktail hour. The couple raised a toast to everyone present and decided to serve the cake with the canapes and not during the reception. The whole celebration was relaxed and had that feel-good vibe that everyone savoured. I documented lovely natural shots of friends and family enjoying the day.

We also got to wander the beautiful grounds and frame their emotions. The woods had blooming bluebells all around which made the whole Liss Ard Estate session even more magical! Plus, I got to capture some amazing James Tyrell Sky Garden photos of the couple. Following, Emma and Shane’s reception continued that laid-back vibe. They decided to skip the speeches and just have fun dancing and chatting the night away!

I hope you enjoyed these West Cork wedding photos. If you wish me to immortalise your special moments, then please contact me! I would be delighted!
