You know I am a great fan of personalised weddings and couples just doing things their own way, right? That is why it was my great pleasure to be a part of Zahrah and Connor’s special day! Not only did they do things their own way and chose a magnificent venue – Liss Ard Estate; but they also had a humanist wedding ceremony, officiated by the best woman, and it was so meaningful and heartfelt.

Let me share a bit about the venue because it has one of the most magnificent grounds for portraiture and of course, architecture. Liss Ard Estate is a renovated Georgian manor, nestled in the heart of West Cork. With an abundance of acres, a private lake and James Turrell’s renowned Irish Sky Garden, it makes for a pretty remarkable and unique place to tie the knot. Its presence gives that undeniable romantic and elegant historical allure which compliments any intimate wedding most wonderfully.

When I arrived to document the Liss Ard Estate wedding of Zahrah and Connor, it kind of felt like I was arriving to my own family because I did their Niamh & Conor’s wedding last year at Ballybunion in Kerry! Even though the day was rainy, the groom and his groomsmen were already swimming in the lake! The gorgeous bride took her time to get ready while I captured all of her bridal details. Her dress, shoes and accessories, all embodied that vintage romantic charm. It really worked so well with the aesthetic of the venue.

They hosted their humanist wedding ceremony indoors, and it was beyond special. Wondering whether to get married in a similar way? Then think about getting a friend to be your celebrant just like this couple! Make it personal and forego tradition. Go wild! It is your day, after all.

After that, we had fun with the group photos, and then we sneaked away for Zahrah and Connor’s intimate session. The grounds of the Liss Ard Estate framed their memories beautifully with the bluebells putting on their best show! The couple hosted their reception in the marquee which was decorated in the name of elegance and romance. The couple, along with their family and friends, surrendered to joy and danced the night away!
