Marquee wedding during covid – Adapting to the Current Restrictions and a few useful hints and tips for planning your west cork wedding.

Are you planning to get married anytime soon amid COVID restrictions? Well, you totally can!

Owing to the current government restrictions, when you can’t have your big day at a venue of your choosing, then the next best thing is to have a marquee wedding during covid at home. To round the festivities off nicely, have a fun, relaxed and informal photography session with your wedding photographer in Cork, surrounded by your nearest and dearest.

Marquee Wedding in COVID times

If you think about it, marquees give you complete wedding planning flexibility in a COVID restricted wedding scenario. In fact, it’s the perfect way to make really good use of the available space in your home, while having your loved ones around you and complying with government restrictions.

More often than not, marquee weddings have become the preferred choice for couples interested in a traditional church wedding, followed by a reception at home with a relaxed wedding photography session.

Why a Marque Wedding in West Cork makes sense in COVID times

There are many benefits of having a marque wedding. For instance, it gives you complete control and flexibility over your big day, above anything else. Marquees are like a blank canvas – you decide how you want the wedding reception to be and make it unique.

A marque wedding in West Cork is also an ideal option for a socially-distanced wedding, giving you more flexibility on space. Just days before the event, you can increase or decrease the marquee’s size depending on your guest list.

This wedding was held on 1st August 2020 at 1 pm with a guest list of 50 – held at the beautiful and majestic Kilcoe Church in West Cork, built by Father Jimmy O’Sullivan in 1905.

After the ceremony we headed off for the bridal and family portraits at Kilcoe Castle followed by cocktails, mocktails, gin bar and canapes served at Skeaghanore West Cork Farm. All organised by the super talented Rose O’Sullivan, wedding planner at Exclusively Yours. Check out the beautiful decoration she made of a simple marquee.

Don’t let a world pandemic stop you from having a magical day. It can be done beautifully, with stlye and elegance, all within the comforts of your home. While adhering to current government restrictions.

Tips for planning weddings in covid times.

Coronavirus will not get the better of us will it?⁣
Things may be different, but different can be good too. With a few adjustments your wedding will go ahead and your love will conquer all ❤⁣

But we do have to take into account the C word (keep it clean!! 😅) so here are my top 10 tips for helping you prepare for your special day:⁣

👉 Sanitiser, masks, sanitiser, masks and yet more sanitiser and masks – yes make sure you have plenty to put on tables, in the church, at the entrance to the reception area – maybe even put little gift bags together for your guests.⁣

👉 Implement seating plans so that ‘bubbles’ remain together⁣.

👉 Weather permitting – enjoy the stunning setting of your day and encourage guests to mingle outside.⁣

👉 Glass charms are a great way to make sure you don’t pick up another guest’s drink. ⁣

👉 Use a video link and invite absent guests to join you via video call for the speeches or ceremony.⁣

👉 Create a wedding hashtag and ask guests to upload pictures and videos throughout the day and have absent guests follow the action.⁣

👉 Save a slice of wedding cake for those who can’t attend.⁣

👉 When your photos are ready create an album for absent guests. ⁣

👉 Have fun, embrace the changes, the most important thing is celebrating LOVE your way.⁣

👉 In hopefully the not too distant future just think about sharing your stories from your ‘coronovirus wedding’ – you will be one of a select few!!!
